Selsey Community First Responders
Since 2001, the Selsey First Responders who are a group of volunteers trained by the South East Coast Ambulance Trust (SECAmb) to respond to 999 calls, have been providing lifesaving emergency treatment within Selsey. Each CFR is equipped with a Defibrillator and Oxygen.
Early defibrillation, in the event of a cardiac arrest greatly increases the patients chances of survival. The first responders are also trained to help with other medical emergencies such as Trauma, Stroke and Diabetic Problems. Sometimes during the busy summer months it can be hard for the Emergency Services to reach us on the peninsula and so the role of the Community First Responder (CFR) becomes all the more vital.
There is no government or NHS funding for your voluntary Responders and they have to look to the firms and residents of Selsey to help us.
