Welcome to Selseys very own hand made artisan Pie Company “Umble pies”!

Historically to eat humble pie, Humble pie, or Umble pie, is based on the medieval European dish consisting of scraps of the master's food baked into a pie.  Chef Thomas' meat pies in comparison to those times are delicious with a generous portion of sumptuous ingredients.

He and his wife created Umble from a conversation about making simple, honest, tasty, traditional British food something we all grew up with, but sadly lost in today’s fast moving life styles.

Chef Thomas proudly states "At the heart of our pies is fresh, excellent quality, locally sourced ingredients. The pastry is something of a secret, a perfect pie crust, soft and crumbly and is certainly the best around, “no puff pastry here”!"

The chicken pies are made from whole freshly roasted chickens, giving a truly full flavour, creating a sumptuous sauce from from the bones. 'Chicken n leek' is one of our best sellers.
 
The steak pies are made from generous portions of beef shin, fresh vegetables and real ale for our famous 'Beef n Ale pie'.

The vegetarian favourite of cheesy leek n vegetable pie topped with sweet and white roasted potato cubes, sprinkled with black pepper and home grown chives, are a gastronomic delight for all.

This is just a small selection to wet your appetite, there are over a dozen different flavoured pies to sample. 

The pies come in four sizes, individual good sized single pie.  Medium, great for two to share.  Large, family sized pie with four generous portions and a family extra-large pie. 

All pies are freshly made to order and free delivery is offered in Selsey.

Chef Thomas has an enviable reputation for creating food of the highest quality and is responsible for award winning catering throughout the world.  He is also  a member of “Chaine des Rotisseurs” and The World Association of Chefs Societies “WACS” and is also an international judge.

His illustrious career includes being the only Chef to have cooked on Concorde from London to New York, and has created menus and cooked for HRH Queen Elizabeth II, the late Princess Diana, Prince Charles and the British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher along with royalty in the Middle East.
