Selsey: The coastal town with an underrated beach offering views of Isle of Wight

Sussex has a beautiful stretch of coastline that is dotted with a number of beautiful villages and towns, all of which have the advantage of being right by the sea. While places like Brighton and Eastbourne may be among the most popular, especially for visitors, the coastal town of Selsey has a beautiful beach that is underrated.

Not far from Chichester, and the ever-popular area of West Wittering, Selsey can often be overlooked despite being somewhat of a Sussex gem. While views of the English Channel are obviously very standard along the Sussex coast, Selsey has the added advantage of boasting views of the Isle of Wight and Solent.

While many may simply see this beach as a great place to go if you are looking for somewhere quieter in comparison to neighbouring beaches, the beach - and Selsey - has more to offer than simply its location. Although many may simply think just beach walks are on offer, the coastal town has more to it than the coastline.

With some lovely natural spots to explore in the area, with Pagham Harbour being not too far, Selsey is also renowned for being home to some great restaurants, pubs and cafes, with The Boulevard Selsey and The Crown Inn being just two to mention. The town also has some features that give it a resort feel, including the West Sands Funfair and amusement park.

Being close to the coast, Selsey also has an array of fish and chip takeaways by the beach, which is perfect for long summer days at the beach. The large number of guest houses around the town is also proof of Selsey's popularity.

Also not far from Bognor, Selsey has so much around it, whether that's the city of Chichester to the north or other locations dotted across the coastline. With so much in and around the area, the coastal town is perfect for a day trip or a long weekend away by the sea.
