Sussex has many options to choose from but this seaside town might be a hidden gem.

Summer holidays are about to start gearing up and if you're not able to get abroad but still looking for a beach holiday, the UK has a lot of seaside beaches that provide a beautiful place to relax.
Sussex is filled with stunning seaside towns and areas all worth a visit: Lancing sits on the Sussex coast, Cuckmere Haven is a pretty pebbly cove located in East Sussex with a variety of wildlife as well as the stunning Camber Sands. Sussex is filled to the brim with options all worthy of a visit.

Another popular spot is West Wittering which always attracts plenty of tourists. It sits just a two-hour drive from London down the A3 but if you're looking for somewhere with even better views, you may just need to go a bit further down to Selsey. Selsey isn't as famous or popular as West Wittering but the million-dollar question has to be why not when you see how nice it is?

The benefit of Selsey is that it is surrounded by beaches that are all easily accessible. Oval Beach, East Beach stretches towards Pagham Harbour, where you can also see a variety of wildlife as well. Marine Beach on a clear day will give you views of Isle of Wight as well as the range of ships in the English Channel and take a deep breath as you enjoy the fresh air. Thanks to its location, Selsey is also considered one of the sunniest areas in the country.

Also as Selsey is located at the end of the Manhood PeninsuIa and so untouched by light pollution you are able to see the Milky Way throughout different times in the year, the best time being from June to August. You will also get picturesque views of the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth. Depending on if you want some fresh food, Selsey has that to offer. On any given day you could be relaxing on the beach and you will see a fisherman appear with fresh crabs after a successful day and if you are so inclined, you can treat yourself to a fresh crab sandwich.

In terms of places to Eat, Selsey has a lot to offer. The Lifeboat's Inn is a popular spot on the beach where you can enjoy fresh food and drinks as you take in the views. The Lifeboat's Inn takes its name from the RNLI Lifeboat station which was established in 1861 and has provided invaluable support in saving lives. It is also a museum

If you head back towards the town, there are plenty of options with a variety of food. The Boulevard Selsey, Waves, as well as a range of fish and chips shop all waiting for you to tuck right in. You may not expect such a wide range of restaurants in a seaside town but Selsey offers plenty of options. As you would imagine, fresh crabs are a common sight on menus throughout the town.

The historic church of St Wilfrid's Chapel has been described by reviewers as 'interesting and unique' while also being situated near Pagham Harbour. One reviewer on Tripadvisor wrote: "I stopped by whilst walking around Pagham Harbour. Well worth a visit; a castle motte adjoins it. Full of history."

In terms of places to stay, there are a number of options. The Seal Bay Resort, The Seal and The Coast Yard at St Andrews Lodge are options to stay. There are also homes on the seafront that are perfect for a family getaway.

With countless options to do some water sports or go diving to see what lies behind the water, Selsey is worthy of consideration even though it may have a more famous neighbour.
